In August 2017, Genneia acquired Cruz Alta Thermal Power Plant, which operates under an agreement with Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico (CAMMESA).
Located 30 kms far away from San Miguel de Tucumán, this plant has two General Electric 9171 E equipment, each with power of 122.5MW. Their turbines are fed with natural gas and are connected to an electric sub-station of 132Kv.
The supply of Cruz Alta Thermal Power Plant is crucial in situations demanding an immediate energetic supply or at rush hours. Its gas turbines of low power reach its maximum capacity in minutes, being able to provide RCP service (Short Term Reserve of 20 minutes), necessary when there are sudden increases of electric demand, or when any large generator of the net is out of service and it is necessary to compensate such loss of supply in the shortest possible time.
Cruz Alta: 100% availability factor
The availability factor is an indicator showing the capacity of the plant to be always ready and available to comply with its essential function: cover rush demand and stabilize the energetic system.
