The food packaging company will use clean energy at its plant in La Rioja supplied by our wind farms Villalonga, Pomona, Rawson and Chubut Norte

Genneia entered into a new renewable energy power purchase agreement with another large company: Tetra Pak, the leading company worldwide engaged in food processing and packaging solutions. Based on such agreement, and through our wind farms Villalonga, Pomona, Rawson and Chubut Norte, we will supply clean energy to its plant located in the Province of La Rioja, where over 3.5 billion packages are manufactured every year for food and beverage consumption in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. The agreement provides for a 5-year renewable energy supply equivalent to an annual consumption of 6,156 MWh, accounting for over 50% of the estimated consumption of the plant.
The long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) are one of the energy solutions made available by Genneia to all such companies committed to sustainable development. Also, they enable Large Consumers in the system to comply with the requirements of Law No. 27,191, which requires that 20% of electric power consumptions derive from renewable sources by 2025.
"With this agreement, we reconfirmed our strategic priority: driving a sustainable transformation in the industry, based on responsible production and consumption, which will allow us to make progress toward our zero emission goal by 2030 and zero net emissions across the entire value chain by 2050," said Javier Quel –general director of Tetra Pak for the Southern Cone– in connection with the agreement.
In turn, our CEO –Bernardo Andrews– said: "We are proud of supplying clean energy for the production of Tetra Pak packages from our wind farms, as this enables us to continue growing as a country in pursuit of an ambitious, beneficial and increasingly strong change in the field of renewable energies and decarbonization of industrial processes."
In this way, we continue increasing the sales of renewable energy to large consumers, adding up a total of 15 companies that source power from our renewable energy plants.
