Buenos Aires, January 24, 2022. Once again, Genneia led the renewable energy generation in the country and reached 18% of the total market share and 24% of wind power generation in Argentina. Hence, it once again positions itself as the industry-leading company, while also retaining its position within the top ten ranked companies engaged in the generation of clean energies in South America.
According to data provided by Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico (CAMMESA), in 2021, the company produced an aggregate of 3,300,000 MWh of solar and wind energy, equivalent to the consumption of over 900,000 households, from its 7 wind farms and its solar farm. Thus, Genneia ratifies its undisputed leadership in the generation of clean energies avoiding the emission of over 1,400,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
October was the month with the greatest volume in terms of renewable energy generation in 2021, recording 329,412 MWh in the aggregate. Also, the Madryn Wind Farm –the largest in Argentina– was Genneia’s operating plant with the highest record in the one month: 93,766 MWh.
In addition, in the context of the reconversion of its energy matrix, Genneia reduced thermal generation by 35% between 2020 and 2021, and it attained a 19% growth in terms of total clean energy generation during such period. Hence, 92 % of the energy generated by Genneia is from renewable sources and only 8 % derives from conventional sources.
“All of this was possible thanks to the work performed by our excellent team, which manages 236 wind turbines and 283,320 solar modules at the same time. Our operations in Rawson, Trelew, Madryn, Chubut Norte, Pomona, Villalonga, Necochea and Ullum are continuously monitored from our cutting-edge Control Center, which is unique in the country,” said Gustavo Castagnino, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director at Genneia.
Genneia sticks to its leadership culture carrying out the construction of the new Solar Photovoltaic Project Sierras de Ullum, to be located in the south-central area of the Province of San Juan, with an installed capacity estimated at 80 MW, which is equivalent to the supply to 50,000 households.
The company has invested over 1.1 billion dollars in 18 renewable projects in the last 4 years and it is adding 60 million dollars in this new project, going for growth in the challenging corporate market.
