Buenos Aires, October 31, 2022. After a year of new challenges, Genneia, the leading renewable energy generation company in the country, released its second Sustainability Report prepared in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). The document reflects the work performed in 2021 and summarizes the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance indicators for such period.
The report is available to be downloaded from its website and describes the company’s highlights. The main reported actions include a leadership position in placement of corporate green bonds in Argentina for over USD 500 million. Hence, Genneia became the main issuer of green bonds in the country and the first company to place a green bond on the international market.
Also, in 2021, the company externally verified for the first time its inventory of greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the GHG International Protocol and used its own Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) to offset the administrative carbon footprint. This reflects not only the level of management transparency but, in turn, the commitment to fighting climate change.
“We are proud of releasing our second Sustainability Report aligned with the best international practices and standards. Our company’s efforts are aimed at attaining increasingly sustainable management and continuing to drive improvements in our processes. This document reflects our daily commitment to community development, our human capital and respect for the environment,” said Carolina Langan, head of Sustainability at Genneia.
“The milestones of our business have been achieved as a result of our employees’ efforts, the support from the communities in which we operate and the support from our investors. We are confident that renewable energies are the future solution for climate change mitigation and Genneia will continue working for its processes to be aligned with the best international standards,” added Gustavo Castagnino, director of Corporate, Regulatory Affairs and Sustainability |ESG at Genneia.
