San Juan, December 21, 2021. On Tuesday morning, Governor Sergio Uñac, together with the chairman of Empresa Provincial de Energía (EPSE), Víctor Doña, held a meeting with Genneia, which was chaired by its president, Jorge Pablo Brito; the company’s CEO, Bernardo Andrews; and the director of Corporate Affairs, Gustavo Castagnino.

The meeting focused on a new renewable project of Genneia in San Juan which will involve an investment of over 60 million dollars in the new solar farm situated in Sierras de Ullum with an installed capacity of 80 MW, equivalent to the household consumption of 50 thousand homes.

After the meeting, Uñac assured that “increased investments translate into increased genuine employment and development, and this project has come to strengthen this important growth in San Juan." Accordingly, he said: "We celebrate this expansion of the Genneia Group that continues to trust the Province of San Juan."

"We work on encouraging investments and working capital acquisition in companies. No doubt, we should take the path of public-private coordination to make progress together," assured the governor. And to conclude, he pointed out that "through this investment, we strengthen private employment development."

In turn, Jorge Brito explained that the company plans to continue investing in the country and that "San Juan is a place where we’d like to continue investing. The work in alliance with EPSE and the Investment Agency of San Juan has been a key component in this process."

In turn, Víctor Doña pointed out that in San Juan there are 16 solar plants and that the solar resource in the Province ranks among the top worldwide.

Finally, Bernardo Andrews highlighted that "the work performed by San Juan to maximize investments in solar energy is unique in the world and at Genneia we bet on continued growth and leading this market in Argentina. Ullum will be one of the main groups of solar parks in the country following the expansion, with over 160 MW of installed capacity."

It should be noted that the Solar Farm Sierras de Ullum will start to be constructed next week. The site chosen for erection extends over 100 hectares and is located on National Route 54. The solar farms Ullum I, Ullum II and Ullum III are located in the same area with an installed capacity of 82 MW.

The development of the new farm will take about 14 months and start-up is estimated to take place by the end of 2022.

During construction, it is estimated that the project will employ 400 people directly and will consist of 150,000 state-of-the-art bifacial solar modules, which will not only capture the energy directly from sunlight but also from the reflection on the ground, thus increasing energy generation by 6%.

Genneia is the leading renewable energy generation company in Argentina with 24% of the country’s wind power installed capacity, thus making it the unquestioned industry-leading company and one of the 10 largest generation companies in South America.

With the development of its wind farms (Rawson, Trelew, Madryn, Chubut Norte, Villalonga, Pomona and Necochea), the company has now a wind power capacity of 784 MW and exceeds 866 MW of renewable energy, taking into account its solar farms Ullum I, II and III (82 MW).
