For the third year in a row, Genneia supported this important Argentine sports event by doing what it knows best: contributing to its sustainability

A new edition of the ATP 250 Córdoba Open took place from January 29 to February 6. Besides being one of the most important professional tennis competitions in the country, with an internationally projected fixture, the tournament is also a significant event in terms of environmental awareness. Hence, for the third year in a row, Genneia supported the organization of the Córdoba Open by offsetting its carbon footprint with carbon credits– Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) – from its renewable generation plants.

For such purposes, Torneos –the event organizer– together with the Secretariat of Environment of the Province of Córdoba, measured the event’s carbon footprint and determined that there were 400 tons of carbon emissions to be offset. Based on such calculation, Genneia retired such amount in the name of Torneos from its portfolio of verified carbon units reduced by its plants.

“We believe that sporting events are a significant social and environmental awareness platform with great transformational power. The Córdoba Open is one of the most valuable tennis tournaments in our country and it is a great opportunity to reach out to the public with the sustainability agenda, to contribute to environmental protection and local development through sports,” said Ana Cacace, Manager of Communications and Sustainability of Torneos, the organizing company.

Thank you Torneos for trusting our sustainable solutions! At Genneia, we will continue supporting our clients and organizations in driving them to carbon neutrality.
