Buenos Aires, June 10, 2022. Genneia was born 10 years ago as a result of the vision to develop projects with a focus on clean and planet-friendly technologies. Today, after 10 years in business, it is the leading renewable energy generation company in Argentina holding 18% of the total market share, consisting of 24% wind energy generation and 8% solar energy in Argentina.
With the focus on contributing to climate change mitigation and continued growth in terms of renewable energy share in the energy matrix, the company is carrying out construction of a new Solar Photovoltaic Project Sierras de Ullum, with an installed capacity of 80 MW in the Province of San Juan, and it has recently announced a 150 million dollar investment in La Elbita Wind Farm, with an installed capacity of 103.5 MW, to be located in Tandil.
In this line, in the latest tender process of the Renewable Energy Term Market, Genneia was also awarded the solar farm Tocota III in San Juan, adding 60 MW to its clean energy portfolio. In this way, the company is heading to become the first clean energy generation company that will generate more than 1 GW (1100 MW) of renewable installed capacity, an unprecedented milestone in our country.
“We are proud of being part of Genneia, a groundbreaking company that was born 10 years ago and has become a leading company and role model. We continue looking ahead with great responsibility, supporting the energy transition of the Argentine productive sector in search for the best and most innovative practices that help us improve day after day,” said Bernardo Andrews, CEO of Genneia.
In this way, as a result of its 236 wind turbines and 283,000 solar panels erected on its 8 farms, the company generated in 2021 an aggregate volume of renewable energy equal to 3.3 million MWh, including solar and wind power, which enabled it to supply power for consumption equivalent to 900,000 households and avoid emissions into the atmosphere of over 1.4 million tons of carbon dioxide.
This leading position could be achieved because of the ongoing commitment of its shareholders, investing over 1.2 billion dollars in five years and an additional amount of 200 million dollars in three new projects: Sierras de Ullum, La Elbita and Tocota III.
