The event organized by ARLOG achieved carbon neutrality for the first time

_____

Buenos Aires, November 18, 2022. Under the motto: “360° Impact on the Global Supply Network,” on November 15th the Argentine Business Logistics Association (ARLOG) held the XXIX National Conference on Business Logistics. The conference brought together more than 600 professionals engaged in logistics from all over the country and prompted debate about topics such as human capital, foreign trade, sustainability, environment, technology, integration and society and consumption.

In this line, Genneia, the leading renewable energy generation company in the country, achieved carbon neutrality for the event by means of Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) from its clean energy generation plants to reduce the environmental impact.

In this way, the company delivered to ARLOG cancellation certificates with the equivalent carbon tons arising from the internationally assessed and certified environmental contribution from the Rawson Wind Farm in Chubut. Hence, ARLOG became a carbon-neutral event for the first time.

This initiative developed by Genneia aims at not only improving its projects, ensuring triple impact for all of its processes, but also encouraging each industry to reduce and offset its contaminating gas emissions into the atmosphere by supporting the energy transition.

The certification and carbon credit issuance are international decontamination mechanisms intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). They were established in 2005 by the Kyoto Protocol as one of the three key mechanisms to reduce the levels of carbon dioxide causing global warming.

A carbon-neutral event minimizes the environmental impacts generated by its operation, reduces the carbon footprint to the greatest possible extent and mitigates the resulting environmental damage. Accordingly, Gabriel García Polignano, member of the management committee of the Argentine Business Logistics Association pointed out that “ARLOG works in alignment with global and national goals to achieve carbon emission neutrality and one first step towards such achievement is by entering into an agreement with Genneia to offset the footprint generated by the event.” He also added that “It is a milestone for ARLOG to have its first carbon-neutral event and this is the first of many steps to be followed with the commitment to achieving emission generation neutrality.”

“Promoting new sustainable business models to combat the environmental crisis is a commitment undertaken by Genneia on daily basis. We are proud of supporting ARLOG and offsetting its carbon footprint for the first time. The energy transition is a mandatory commitment and leaving this message to the private sector is important so that these actions may be replicated and help fight the climate crisis,” noted Gustavo Castagnino, director of Corporate, Regulatory Affairs and Sustainability |ESG at Genneia.

Similarly to ARLOG, Genneia has already offset the footprint of other events organized by the IDEA Seminar, the IDB, the World Economic Forum, the World Travel & Tourism Council, the Córdoba Open ATP 250, the B Corporations Conference, Argentina Makes an Impact in San Juan, TEDxRíodelaPlata, the Argentine Soccer Cup Final 2021, among other, in addition to playing a leading role in the largest sale of CERs in the history of our country to the company Natura.
