Thanks to our friendly production process with the environment we are able to deliver the needed carbon credits to reduce the impact of harmful gases to the planet

So we did the biggest annual gathering of entrepreneurs held in Mar de Plata from 6 to 9 October, during the 55th edition of the Colloquium of IDEA; something that causes us so much pride and commitment for the future. The challenge to continue working to promote the decontamination of our land where we live, generating clean, free, renewable energy as part of the necessary energy transition that Argentina needs.

What are carbon credits? Carbon bonds are an international decontamination mechanism to reduce emissions of harmful gases into the environment. They were established in 2005 in the Kyoto Protocol (international treaty), as one of the three key points to reduce levels of carbon dioxide causing global warming or greenhouse. The system offers economic incentives to businesses that are committed to improving environmental quality by regulating the pollution of their production processes.

It's considered the right to pollute as a redeemable and priced well established in the market. A carbon credit represents the right to pollute by emitting a ton of carbon dioxide. This mitigates the generation of greenhouse gases and thus benefit companies that do not pollute and fining those who do more themselves than allowed.

Emission reductions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) are measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent, and translate into Certified Emission Reductions (CER). One CER equals one tonne of CO2 not emitted into the atmosphere, and can be sold on the carbon market as payroll'industrializados' countries also established by the above-mentioned international protocol.

In Genneia, the type of projects we do, we can apply to a certification that realizes the "friendliness" of our production processes in relation to the environment. We develop a business that involves the use of a natural and renewable resource to generate the energy needed to live. We do not use fossil resources such as coal or oil for that generation. We whereupon invest in cleaner technologies and thus reduce the emission of toxic gases to the environment.

55 IDEA Colloquium was the perfect setting to provide a framework for a new paradigm for doing business sustainably. Carbon bonds whose issuance and control body is the United Nations, were delivered by our Director of Corporate Affairs, Gustavo Castagnino, to the director of the meeting.
