The plant comes out from two constructive projects, both within the framework of agreements with Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico. Bragado II was the first power plant of resolution 21/2016 to be in operation in Argentina, in February 2017.
Three months later Bragado III started operation, counting, between both stages, 4 General Electric TM 2500 GEN 8 units of 30MW, fed by natural gas/gas oil.
The supply of Bragado Thermal Power Plant is crucial in situations demanding an immediate energetic supply or at rush hours. Its gas turbines of low power reach its maximum capacity in minutes, being able to provide RCP service (Short Term Reserve of 20 minutes), necessary when there are sudden increases of electric demand, or when any large generator of the net is out of service and it is necessary to compensate such loss of supply in the shortest possible time.
The availability factor of Bragado Plant:
- Bragado II: 91.6%
- Bragado III: 99.4%
The availability factor is an indicator showing the capacity of the plant to be always ready and available to comply with its essential function: cover rush demand and stabilize the energetic system.
