After the commissioning of the Ullum Solar Farm 3 years ago, new investments will be made in Sierras de Ullum and Tocota III for USD 110 million. Hence, Genneia’s solar project investments in San Juan exceed USD 200 million

San Juan, August 22, 2022. Genneia, the leading renewable energy generation company in Argentina, was visited by Sergio Uñac, Governor of San Juan; Roberto Gattoni, Vice Governor of San Juan; Leopoldo Soler, Mayor of Ullum; Jorge Espejo, Mayor of Iglesias; and a large delegation of provincial authorities.

The delegation was welcomed at the Ullum Solar Farm by executive officers of Genneia: Jorge Pablo Brito, shareholder and board member; Francisco Sersale, board member; Cesar Rossi, president; Bernardo Andrews, CEO; and other members of the company’s management. Along the tour, they talked about the operation of the Ullum Solar Farm, with an installed capacity of 82 MW, consisting of 279,000 solar panels, and about the experience gained over the last 3 years since its commissioning. Also, the new Operation and Maintenance Center is under construction for the company’s solar operations in Ullum.

In addition, the officers and directors learnt about the progress in the construction works of the new Solar Photovoltaic Farm Sierras de Ullum, located next to the Ullum I, II and III solar farms, which will have an installed capacity of 78 MW, equivalent to the power supply to 50,000 households.

The Governor of Uñac highlighted the expansion of the productive matrix in San Juan and assured that "the Government must act as a facilitator in certain situations." In this sense, he praised the private sector for working and implementing new activities. Also, with regard to renewable energies, he noted that San Juan is the Province with the largest number of solar farms providing the largest volume of energy to the National Grid.

Accordingly, the construction of Sierras de Ullum will employ more than 400 people directly and will consist of 150 thousand state-of-the-art bifacial solar modules, which will capture the energy directly from sunlight and also from the reflection on the ground, thus increasing energy generation by 6%. Hence, both farms will comprise one of the main groups of solar parks in the country, with over 160 MW of installed capacity.

"The economic development, with respect to the environment and inclusion, are the three main pillars on which we work. We believe in the private sector, and we support them by providing credit facilities. The government of San Juan is characterized by being very close to businessmen and their problems trying to provide solutions,” said Sergio Uñac, Governor of the Province of San Juan, who appreciated the investment made by the company in the Province.

“We are very proud of having the Governor of the Province and his staff in our Ullum Solar Farm. The work that the Province of San Juan has been putting in to maximize investments in solar energy is an example for everyone, and at Genneia we will continue growing in San Juan, thus leading this market in continued support of the energy transition and foreign currency savings, while also decarbonizing the industry and creating local jobs,” said Bernardo Andrews, CEO of Genneia

In turn, Jorge Brito, Genneia’s shareholder and board member said: “At Genneia we would like to highlight the work that the government of San Juan has been putting in to maximize investments in solar energy. We know we have the support from the Province to continue growing in the region. This is all possible due to the joint coordinated efforts between the public and private sectors.”

In this line and with the focus on retaining its leadership position and continuing to maximize investments in the Province, Genneia has recently announced it became the awardee for the Tocota III Solar Farm, with an installed capacity of 60 MW. Hence, San Juan will have more than 220 MW of capacity operated by the company with investments in excess of 200 million dollars.

With the new solar projects in San Juan, Genneia will have more than 1 GW of installed capacity, which is an unprecedented milestone in the country, and it will have invested more than 1.4 billion dollars in more than 20 projects by 2023.
