La Elbita Wind Farm Project was originated to satisfy the energy demand of large industrial users, within the framework of the Renewable Energy Term Market. It is located on a 1,464-hectare site, approximately 42 km south of the city of Tandil. It is the third wind farm of Genneia in the province of Buenos Aires.
With an investment of over 240 million dollars, its development was made possible through a mixed financing approach involving both international and local funds. At the international level, Genneia was backed by FMO and FinDev Canada, who provided a corporate loan of 85 million dollars for a 10-year term. Locally, investors participated through the issuance of green bonds.
The transportation of the wind turbine components for the La Elbita Wind Farm was one of the most challenging milestones in its construction: : we invite you to relive it with a video.
Wind is a natural, renewable and non-polluting source of energy.
Each Megawatt/Hour of electricity generated by wind power, instead of gas or coal, avoids the emission of approx. 0.5 ton of CO2 into the atmosphere.
